Creating a master bathroom retreat is a challenge – but one of my favorites to take on! This master bathroom in West Houston started as a completely blank slate – the room had been completely gutted down to the studs. The space wasn’t exactly huge, so it was important to use light and bright finishes and colors, but we still wanted to inject a sense of warmth and refinement. Tackling the layout was the first step, and from there it was time to select a unique blend of plumbing fixtures, mirrors, light fixtures, and textiles.
MASTER BATHROOM RENOVATION – DESIGN PLAN
One main goal in this master bathroom renovation was to seamlessly blend cool and warm elements, in an eclectic yet classic way. The porcelain carrara-marble-look tile for the floors and shower is absolutely classic and refined, with cool undertones in the gray veining. To break up all of the white and gray, we selected warm brass plumbing fixtures, mirrors, and vanity stool. I love how brass pops against the white and gray soft backdrop. To keep things from looking too matchy-matchy, we then blended in polished chrome vanity sconces and cabinet hardware – don’t be afraid to mix your metals in a space! Soft lilac accents and a beautiful Schumacher fabric roman shade on the windows injects color and vibrancy……a little vibrant color goes a long way.
MASTER BATHROOM RENOVATION – AFTER
You can see in these “after” photos that every square inch of this master bathroom was maximized with a great blend of function and style! The airy finishes really create the illusion of a larger space. All of the cabinetry storage is well-utilized, but doesn’t overwhelm the space. The warm brass tones really add a dose of glamour and elegance . Let me know your favorite element in this master bathroom renovation – leave a comment below!
