Three Simple but Important Tips for a Dreamy Bedroom

3-simple-but-important-tips-for-a-dreamy-bedroom

Was your New Year’s Resolution to work on prioritizing sleep for better health?  How’s that going for you?  Or perhaps your current bedroom situation is just plain sad and anything but dreamy or romantic.

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, and let’s be honest – with sleep being a requirement EVERYDAY OF YOUR ENTIRE LIFE – don’t you think our bedroom’s deserve a little love?  I have 3 simple tips that will elevate your basic bedroom into a dreamy, snuggly paradise.  I promise you, your eyelids will thank you.

THREE SIMPLE BUT IMPORTANT TIPS FOR A DREAMY BEDROOM – #1  DECLUTTER

3-simple-but-important-tips-for-a-dreamy-bedroom

This tip is the most simple, affordable, and important!  Declutter, remove, or store away everything from your bedroom that does not promote sleep or rest.  Your stack of mail does not belong on your nightstand.  Work papers and emails – they don’t belong here..  Projects and to-do items are for your home office – not by your bedside.

Now I do realize that your bedroom likely functions as a room for more than just sleep:  your dresser holds clothes, you might have a vanity for putting on makeup, and there might even be a desk area.  All of those are fine – just consistently focus on putting all of those secondary function items AWAY as you use them….put makeup back in the drawer, hide paperwork in a file drawer, and keep clothes tucked away in the dresser.  Out of sight junk will help you ease into a restful mindset and prevent you from going into “I have so much to do” mode.  Practice this tip everyday.

THREE SIMPLE BUT IMPORTANT TIPS FOR A DREAMY BEDROOM – #2  SPLURGE ON GREAT LINENS

Remember the last time you stayed at a luxury hotel, and jumped into the bed with glee?  I’m betting it was because the bed linens were super awesome and irresistible.  Now please tell me why you shouldn’t have that feeling at home?  Bed linens on the market vary greatly in price – but I would encourage you to purchase all bed linens on the higher end of your personal budget.  A pillowy fluffy down comforter and luxurious sheets with the perfect pillow – a recipe for true sleepy bliss.  This is not a home category to skimp on!

THREE SIMPLE BUT IMPORTANT TIPS FOR A DREAMY BEDROOM – #3  BLACKOUT WINDOW TREATMENTS

Referencing another tip that almost all hotels have figured out – the power of blackout window treatments.  If you don’t have these in your home bedroom, I bet you are excited every time you close the darkening shades during your hotel stay.  Blackout window treatments are also a bit of a splurge, especially if you are going the custom route.  But I encourage you to save up for this item…they are well worth it!  Just be sure to set your alarm, as the sun will no longer wake you up.  😉

Now I’d love to hear from you – let me know which of these three simple tips you are going to try first for a more dreamy bedroom.  Leave me a comment below!
