Today we are back, sharing a colorful and cheerful formal sitting room and grand foyer transformation! My clients purchased this beautiful home in West Houston, after I had worked with them on a few rooms in their previous home in the Woodlands, Texas. They needed a plan for the new home – how to make their existing pieces work in the new layout, and to figure out the new design elements that would be special for this grand house!
WEST HOUSTON – BEFORE
With soaring entry ceilings, refinished wood floors, and a fresh coat of interior paint, the foyer and the formal sitting room were a great blank canvas. We needed to inject some personality and set the welcoming tone in these spaces as you enter through the front door.
WEST HOUSTON – DESIGN
Our design plan for the foyer included adding a patterned stair runner, accenting the curved staircase with a custom skirted entry table, and we needed some type of large treatment for the expansive stairwell and entry wall. A typical canvas or other general artwork would not work on the curved wall – so we sourced stunning watercolor mural wallpaper, in a soft, serene landscape.
Immediately off the grand foyer to the right, in the formal sitting room, we designed a balanced, symmetrical furniture layout. A new elegant acrylic chandelier was centered in the room to accent the beautiful chinoiserie framed triptych. The lovely neutral walls needed a jolt of color and pattern, so we designed custom colorful drapery panels to add some interest. Lovely antique brass accents were selected in the floor lamp, chandelier, and accent tables.

The finished spaces are colorful yet refined; classic yet impactful. The oversized custom mural panels are such a beautiful focal point as you enter this stunning West Houston home. Elegant finishes, peachy coral patterns, gleaming brass accents, and soft watery landscapes make this an entry to remember!
