Spring Branch Living Room

We have another major transformation for you to check out today! This project is a great example of the power of furnishings to elevate a space. This beautiful home in the Spring Branch area in Houston, TX had an amazing footprint and so many great features that we were excited to highlight – stunning wall sconces set on a dramatic blue backdrop, lovely large windows looking out to a beautiful garden, and a well-sized footprint of space that was ready for some new furnishings! Take a look at this living room before.

SPRING BRANCH LIVING ROOM – BEFORE

SPRING BRANCH LIVING ROOM – DESIGN

As we started with the furniture layout for this space, it was important to find the right sectional sofa as the client requested. The L-shaped sectional would provide a nice visual separation from the living room to the open dining room and kitchen, while keeping a cozy and intimate feel. We centered a gorgeous, lush area rug on the center of the fireplace, and placed a pair of comfortable armchairs in front of the large windows looking out to the garden. I usually like to use a round coffee table when a sectional is used. Small drink tables, a slim sofa console table, and a delicate floor lamp were added for form and function. Beautiful weathered wood chests would flank the fireplace and add visual weight and functional storage. The color scheme was developed after sourcing a beautiful large scale floral fabric that would be used to fabricate the floor-to-ceiling functional drapes. We pulled ruby reds, soft blues, and touches of green in the other accent fabrics. Brushed brass was an elegant metal finish to coordinate with the decorative wall sconces and tied in so beautifully with the blues in the space. The area rug pulled together all of the colors in a fresh floral motif, which is also so effective in hiding stains!

SPRING BRANCH LIVING ROOM – AFTER

The fresh floral prints and traditional furniture lines came together to create a cheerful, refined, traditional space. The drapes really set the dramatic tone for the room and add a livable elegance – I think they make the room! The cozy sectional with performance fabric is inviting and can seat so many. And I really love the accents of the berry red – it energizes the room and pairs beautifully with the inky blue accent wall.
