The lands of Pinterest, Instagram, Houzz, etc. are filled with unbelievably gorgeous images of perfectly styled kitchens. You probably look over them and swoon, but assume achieving this level of day-to-day styling beauty is a pipe dream – those kitchens are photoshoot ready, after all. Well I have a few helpful pointers today on how you can accessorize and style your kitchen – in a practical way! These styling tips will still keep your kitchen running as smoothly as before, but will help elevate the beauty around you while assembling school sack lunches.
TIPS FOR STYLING YOUR KITCHEN LIKE A PRO: #1 – LIVE PLANTS
Using live plants in your kitchen is a double duty tip – especially if you choose live herbs! Pick up some inexpensive rosemary/sage/basil/etc. plants at your local nursery or supermarket, and then replant into a more lovely planter that fits with your kitchen decor. Place by the sink or a sunny window, and you have a lovely fresh accent that will also come in handy when it’s time to season a recipe!
TIPS FOR STYLING YOUR KITCHEN LIKE A PRO: #2 – GOOD LOOKING TOOLS
This is a tip that I am working on myself – collecting and acquiring more beautiful kitchen tools and supplies. Instead of an ugly hard plastic cutting board, swap out for a handmade wood cutting board, that can be propped up against your backsplash. Have old spatulas and cooking spoons still from college? Look to collect more refined tools that can stay in a pretty vessel on the counter – free of embarrassment. The same goes for pots/pans/platters/etc! These items can all be functional and beautiful.
TIPS FOR STYLING YOUR KITCHEN LIKE A PRO: #3 – ARTWORK
Having artwork in your kitchen is a less obvious tip that I absolutely love. As you can see in the the example image above, a small framed print sitting on the counter adds an interesting layer to a utilitarian space. It’s also practical, in that it doesn’t take up valuable counter space!
TIPS FOR STYLING YOUR KITCHEN LIKE A PRO: #4 – FRESH INGREDIENTS
Fresh ingredients – citrus, artichokes, apples, nuts – don’t have to be banished to the crisper fridge drawer or depths of your pantry. Arranging your fresh ingredients on a platter or decorative bowl adds the pop of color that you never knew you were missing. They are also a nice reminder to get in your daily dose of fruits and veggies!
